Valmont Facades manufactured 10,600 square feet of custom perforated metal panels for the podium garage at 8980 Villa La Jolla, a development by GPI Companies for UC San Diego. The panels use two perforation patterns, Niche and Champagne. The scope includes Valmont’s engineered W-beam crash barrier for vehicular impact resistance and pedestrian fall protection, plus a delegated design package covering engineering, shop drawings, and delivery. The 8980 building is part of the La Jolla Wellness Center, a nine-story mixed-use building near the main campus. Gensler was the architect, Swinerton the general contractor, and Burner Sheet Metal the subcontractor.
