Challenge
Give a long-standing public utility building a durable, distinctive facade that can stand up to the Texas climate.
Solution
3,750 square feet of Aurora contoured perforated panels, anodized rails, and an Interpon D2525 powder coat.
Since 1960, the Brownsville Public Utility Board (BPUB) has been a cornerstone of the Brownsville, Texas community. Valmont Facades was selected to deliver a high-performance facade upgrade that would elevate the building’s visual identity while enhancing long-term durability.
The project features 3,750 square feet of custom contoured panels utilizing the Aurora system. The facade is composed of 3mm perforated aluminum panels with 32mm diameter perforations at 54mm centers, secured using EB brackets integrated with the supporting frame. Aurora’s engineered platform supported precise calculations and shop drawings from concept through installation.
The finished facade uses an intricate custom perforation pattern finished with the Interpon D2525 powder-coat system. Complementary 6mm aluminum top hats add depth, and custom Aurora extruded rails were anodized and sealed so the blue powder-coated panels hold their appearance in the Texas climate.
Noble Texas Builders was the general contractor and Bowman Architectural was the subcontractor.
